Dr. Nicholas Atanasoff is a former psychiatrist who became an
addictionologist specialized in opioid addiction over a decade ago. He founded the
Addiction Outreach Clinic (AOC) in 2007 and has since helped thousands of
patients recover from opioid addiction. Today, as the President, Medical
Director and Chief Executive Officer of AOC, Dr. Atanasoff oversees trained
teams of addictionologists, counselors and medical professionals across seven
locations in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Together, he and his team members have
earned a reputation as leaders in the industry for offering effective and
efficient treatments that work.
When Dr. Nicholas Atanasoff left his career as a psychiatrist to
become an addictionologist, he began prescribing a drug that was relatively new
at the time. It’s known as Suboxone®,
and it includes a blend of buprenorphine and naloxone. This combination helps reduce
and prevent the cravings and withdrawal symptoms that patients would otherwise
face. Dr. Atanasoff combined Suboxone®
with a required monthly behavioral counseling session and medical checkup that
includes a drug test in his outpatient clinics.
